v0.217.0-beta

LarisVMS 0.217.0

A big release: object intelligence (colors, speed traps, detection alerts), privacy masks that work, footage encryption and tamper evidence, two-way audio, a camera map, activity heatmaps, and a customizable dashboard.

✨ New

AI detection

  • Object colors. Each object's color, and a person's shirt and pants colors, as badges on snapshots and as filters on the Snapshots page.
  • Speed traps. Draw two lines across a road and enter the distance between them. Speeds show on live boxes and snapshots, as markers on the Playback timeline, in a Speed log dashboard widget and report, and in a speed heatmap. Give a trap a speed limit to highlight speeders. Units are km/h or mph.
  • Detection alerts. Alert when an object is detected (by camera, category, label, color, zone, days and hours) or when something passes a speed trap over a limit, within seconds.

Privacy and evidence

  • Privacy masks. Black out areas in recordings, live view, snapshots and exports. A masked camera keeps its own codec (H.264 or H.265) and bitrate.
  • Export redaction. Black out parts of a single export without masking the camera.
  • Footage encryption. Encrypt recordings, or recordings plus snapshots and thumbnails, on the recorders' disks, per camera. Set it up under Settings → Encryption and signing.
  • Tamper evidence. Every recording is fingerprinted and chained, and the server signs the chain hourly. Every export comes with a signed manifest that Exports → Verify an export checks in your browser, or anyone can check with openssl.

Viewing

  • Two-way audio. Hold 🎙️ on a live tile to talk through the camera's speaker. Both directions are recorded and play back with the video.
  • Camera map. Place cameras on a street map or a floorplan, with a cone for where each one looks and its live status.
  • Activity heatmaps. See when things happen on a camera or across all cameras, from 24 hours to a year.
  • Customizable dashboard. Add, move and resize widgets for camera and node health, storage, alerts, detections, speeds and more. Each opens a full report with CSV download.

⚙️ Changed

  • Nodes is now one page in the sidebar: nodes, builds and pending approvals (with a build history pop-up), auto-update and the registration key. Old links redirect.
  • Settings → Encryption and signing also shows the server's signing key, with a public key download.

🛠️ Fixed

  • The map now reopens where you left it, and Done editing saves where it opens for everyone.
  • Speed traps no longer miss vehicles that crossed both lines before being recognised as moving.
  • Object colors no longer pick up the background (a dog on grass read as green).
  • Leftover footage on nodes, including nodes with no cameras, is now cleaned up, and the warning clears.
  • H.265 cameras with a privacy mask no longer keep reconnecting in live view.
  • No more ERR_CACHE_MISS when pressing Back after saving a page.
  • Pages no longer load half-built until refreshed, and every time shows in your local time.
  • Cameras with a speaker are detected for two-way audio (re-probe the camera), and cameras with G.711 audio play.

🔒 Security

  • System.Security.Cryptography.Pkcs updated to 10.0.13 for GHSA-2fmv-rv2c-59x7 and GHSA-846f-f764-76mx.

⬆️ Upgrading

  • Install the new Web MSI over the old one. The database updates itself on start.
  • Approve the new node and proxy builds on the Nodes page. Speed traps, object colors, encryption and the leftover-footage fix run on the nodes.
  • Encryption is off by default. If you turn it on, download the master key backup and keep it, and its passphrase, somewhere other than the server. Without them, encrypted footage can't be recovered after a rebuild.
  • Cameras with a privacy mask are re-encoded, which uses CPU or GPU time on their node.
  • Re-probe cameras with a speaker to enable two-way audio.
